It’s worth nothing that the COVID-19 relief emergency funds that will help make up 55% of the difference for schools and child care are for March - June 2020. Still work to do for this current school year, here’s hoping it can be included in the next stimulus package.YES! Universal Meals! Go Academy!Hopefully school nutrition employees especially those who worked next day in March and have not stopped, reach some kind of federal pay?Any discussion about regional indexing of income cut-offs that account for cost of living differences?Please, where is Elizabeth from?While I applaud the EBT program, we are finding it has effected our meal particpation (lowering it), as we are offering free meals for students while they learn vitrually. That is the best reimbursement increase we can getI don't know if a question asked earlier was answered, so forgive me if it was...Liz is a dietitian and the Senior Director of Legislative and Govt Affairs with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.Yes Stephanie, Jared and Angeles -who joined today- are with Nourish CA and they are focus on Universal Free Meals so kids whose families make just above the federal limits ($34K for a family of four) can still access meals. Especially important since there is no immigration status test for school meals, unlike CalFresh.I agree with Stephanie. Universal free meals is the way to go!Thank you Jared and Angeles!Jiwon - YES, I would recommend waiting for the CDE townhall this month for more updates!Here is Nourish CA factsheet showing the disconnect between federal income limits and the cost of meeting basic needs in CA.
